Happy Friday Everyone! This weekend I will not be doing very much cooking! In fact, cooking just doesn’t seem to be on my side right now! The other night, I was opening the freezer to get something out, and water just poured out. The entire ice container had melted – ugh! We have ordered a new fridge – we actually hated the one we had anyway, but it will be a while before it is delivered, so wish me luck!!
This weekend I’ll be a race car driver wife!! :) My husband doesn’t race very much (ok, fine, this is his second time!) – but it is my dad’s hobby/passion! My dad retired very young from a suit and tie job, and became a full time Porsche restorer. He’s been in magazines, etc…he’s kind of a cool dad to have! :)
So last year, my dad and brother-in-law were invited to race some sprints in a 2-day race! It’s fun stuff….but everywhere you look….chips, BBQ, meat, meat and more meat. Wish me luck that I don’t come home with a belly full of meat and an extra 10 lbs!! :) Here are some pics from last year – how cute are they?
Regardless of what I end up eating, it’s a really great time and I always love getting to be around my dad, sister, stepmom, bro-in-law, etc.! Last year they got 2nd place overall for the Saturday, but Sunday the car broke down. :( Can’t wait to see how they do this year!
This week Lance and I watched a movie called The Cove. I was dreading seeing this movie, as a documentary about dolphins just doesn’t sound very entertaining to me. However, it is a shockingly great movie and I didn’t realize it actually won an Academy Award in 2009. I HIGHLY recommend it. It is basically a documentary about a man who feels he started the dolphin fascination (he used to be the “Flipper” trainer), and now has spent the last 35 years trying to reverse what he feels he started. It is entertaining, scary at times, and really sad to know the truth about what happens. It will also make you rethink how much fish you eat – think MERCURY. But, the focus is on dolphins, and I think you should watch it, if you find yourself looking for a movie to watch at home one night.
On a final note, we have been really busy getting together some fun things for our next giveaway! :) I can tell you that Forks Over Knives is being quite generous and wants to be included in this giveaway! :) If you don’t “like” us on Facebook, go ahead and do that, or if you do “like” us, feel free to tell a friend – because we’ll be announcing the giveaway once we get to 2,000 “likes”. Currently we are around 1,900. :)
And on another final note I need to try a new recipe next week. So, PLEASE email me or comment and give me an idea of what you’d like to see!! Slowcooker? Recipe with kale? Soup? Salad? I need some suggestions! If not, I’ll try something out of the Forks Over Knives recipe book!
Have a great weekend everyone!
