I loved my Waring Pro Juicer that I got from Target to initially get me started into the world of juicing. After many, many delicious juices, however, a few things started happening. First, it started to… well, it started to stink. I would clean and clean and clean it, but it seems like the juice started leaking into the round “spinny” part. As much as I tried to clean the accumulation, I could never get it totally clean. So…the result… P.U.!!!!
The other thing that started happening is that my juices started getting thicker and thicker. My juicing “remains” were still very wet, even when running it through again. In fact, with my last Waring juice, I actually put the remains through a nut bag and squeeeeezed out probably a 1/2 glass more of juice. I looked into buying a new blade for it, but the blade was $34 WITHOUT shipping and handling, and the whole juicer was only about $50. So, I began my mission to look for a new Juicing friend. After reading many reviews and especially Kris Carr’s recommendation – I decided on the Juicer Elite. It’s a “step up” from the Juicer Ikon, but I paid the same or less because I got it refurbished. My Vitamix is also refurbished. It’s the only way to go, in my opinion, if you can! Most of the parts are completely stainless. My juices are THIN again, and my “remains” (the pulp) are TOTALLY DRY!! I’m in love, and getting so much more juice out of my veggies now!!!!
It’s no secret that HealthyMammas like to snack , so a recipe I”d like to include today is one of my favorites, and the idea was given to me by my sweet HealthyMelissaMamma!
Cucumber and Onion Snack!! Let me begin by telling you that I am NOT a raw onion fan!!! But, this is different, it is delicious, and you must let it marinate at least overnight!! This is so awesome and easy, and I snack on it all day when I have it made.
- Thinly slice some cucumbers.
- Thinly slice some onions (probably yellow or red would work best – but your choice)
- Pour in one cup of water, and one cup of Apple Cider Vinegar – make sure it covers the top of the veggies.
- Season with sea salt and pepper
- Cover, refrigerate overnight, and then enjoy over the next few days!!
